Don’t sabotage your success. Look in the mirror and smile. You will see someone else who thinks you are great smiling back at you. Wink, call that person by name and say, “You are the greatest! You are a winner, you are the best!”
Feeling good and upbeat takes work. Do you enjoy winning? Also, do you know how it feels to dread what lies ahead? Those are the times we are slow getting started and we let self-doubt creep in and darken our mood. We whine about going to work and we talk ourselves out of being that vibrant, energetic person who is ready to face the challenges of the day.
Spewing insults at ourselves make us feel worthless. Just try saying those mean things to your child or someone you admire! Sounds cruel and insensitive, doesn’t it? You wouldn’t even entertain that thought. So what makes it acceptable for us to brazenly denigrate our own spirit?
Often, we believe we have just cause for those feelings and we dig deep to find excuses and sometimes we just blame it on the full moon!
If you can pinch yourself and feel it…there is still hope! Here are tips that may seem over to help you get used to complimenting yourself.
Get in touch with your winning spirit
Have you ever won a contest, maybe a sports game or a spelling bee or have been singled out for doing the right thing. Or can you recall that great feeling you had in anticipation of an exciting vacation, birthday party or wedding… Channel that feeling to make the adrenalin pump wishing for thundering applause, all heads turning and you thinking “yes it was me, me, me I am the greatest”!
Hold that thought and I will give you five tips that will help you capture self-love and keep in touch with that powerful winning spirit.
1. Every morning wake up a winner!
Even before you get out of bed think of yourself as a winner. After all, if you opened your eyes, you won over the alternative.
2. Talk yourself into a winning attitude
Think of yourself as great. Look in the mirror and smile; you will see someone else who thinks you are great smiling back at you. Wink, call that person by name ” (your name) and say you are the greatest! You are a winner, you are the best!” Say thank you…for you!
3. Give that thank you speech you gave or never gave but rehearsed. At the dinner table…reach for that fork and just imagine that award you wanted to win and thank your family for giving it to you! They’ll laugh, but oh you will feel so good to finally give that speech.
4. Make peace with yourself
Stretch…feel the muscles in your body, breathe deep to relieve the stress and anxiety and then go inside yourself with soothing self-talk to nurture the greatest person on earth…you!
5. Recognize that you’ve won
Every time you blink be thankful for the triumph to think, see, hear, feel and know that you have reached the goal line every second you breathe.
Remember these tips every time you drift into negative self-talk to sabotage your success…focus on victory and the deeper reasons why you are here. Pat yourself on the back and look forward to tomorrow when again you will wake up a winner.
